Angelina Jolie ‘overshadowed’ St. John brand - BusinessWorld Online Posted: 10 Jan 2010 07:24 AM PST
Story toolsArts & LeisurePosted on 07:09 PM, January 10, 2010 LOS ANGELES -- Actress Angelina Jolie, the former face of US luxury knitwear maker St. John, "overshadowed the brand", the label's chief told an industry publication on Friday as the company unveiled its new look. St. John this week launched a new spring 2010 print advertising campaign starring British model Karen Elson, 30, a redhead who is married to White Stripes singer Jack White. Absent from the promotion, was Hollywood superstar Jolie, 34, who was hired by St. John as its public face in 2005. Jolie's departure had been announced in June 2008. St. John Chief Executive Glenn McMahon told Women's Wear Daily she "overshadowed the brand. We wanted to make a clean break from actresses and steer away from blondes and cleanse the palette." Separately, McMahon said in a statement that "we needed to show a modern point of view of St. John. We are evolving the brand." During the years that Jolie promoted the company's fashions, she became one of the most recognizable and sought-after celebrities in the world through her romance with actor Brad Pitt, their six children, and her charity work in Africa and other countries. -- Reuters Five Filters featured article: Chilcot Inquiry. National Enquirer says Angelina Jolie threatening to commit suicide ... - Examiner Posted: 09 Jan 2010 08:11 PM PST The National Enquirer is well known for being a tabloid trash talk rag. They specialize in writing stories that are difficult to prove or disprove because they have just enough fact in them to be plausible and just enough literary license taken in creating fiction to make their stories readable. After breaking the story on the Tiger Woods scandal, people are starting to listen to what they say -- and this time they are claiming Angelina Jolie is threatening Brad Pitt that she is going to commit suicide if he leaves her. Here's the breaking headline news commentary about the rest of the story.
NATIONAL ENQUIRER TALKS, PEOPLE LISTEN? This year, they have made a big coup in the media world that has started to influence public opinion. When the National Enquirer broke the story that Tiger Woods was being unfaithful to his wife Elin Nordegren with Rachel Uchitel the last quarter, they gained big credibility ground with the general public. Murmurs are beginning in the comments section of any column that cites the National Enquirer, suggesting that they, "Do their research" and "know more than the rest of us because they investigate this sort of stuff". While it's correct that they do have a full staff being paid ot do research and writing full time, they also have a big team of legal professional coaching all their shots.
NATIONAL ENQUIRER REPORTING ANGELINA JOLIE SUICIDAL One of the latest reports about Brangelina made by the National Enquirer says that Angelina Jolie is threatening suicide. The first thing any suicide prevention person will tell you is that people who talk of killing themselves (legitimately) are making a desperate cry for help. Those who mention it casually in passing and withdraw (tidying up final details of their life) are more likely ready to go. On the outside looking in at Brangelina, they have had a rough road in 2009. With two new tell all books about the couple spewing deep and abiding hatred for Angelina and the public sharing an almost "Michael Jackson - esque" love hate relationship with the beautiful movie star, it is no wonder she might feel a bit personally overwhelmed and alone. But suicide? We don't think so. The mother of six may be feeling isolated, she may be overwhelmed by nasty press and the daily care of six young children, and she may be feeling vulnerable as Brad Pitt has been stepping up to take over the spotlight in the green celebrity world. [Remember, Angelina Jolie is a volunteer global ambassador for the United Nations while Pitt has gotten involved with green building techniques and eco-friendly architecture especially spending his time on general construction and design projects for the Hurricane ravaged city of New Orleans, Louisiana in the United States.]
CLAIMS ABOUT GREEN CELEBRITIES BRAD PITT AND ANGELINA DUBIOUS (AT BEST) So, although we applaud the National Enquirer for their investigative reporting on the Tiger Woods infidelity scandal, we are still skeptical of their claims about celebrity "A List" couples -- including Brangelina. Nevertheless, here is the report on Angelina Jolie's suicide threat, shared by ShowBizSpy: ANGELINA Jolie attempted suicide after falling into a deep depression, it has been claimed. According to a report from the National Enquirer magazine, the Tomb Raider star told partner Brad Pitt that she was afraid her suicidal tendencies would return after learning that he'd made plans to move out on his own. "Brad was in France checking on their chateau recently, and Angelina was in Los Angeles with the kids when she called him in a panic," a source said. "She told him, 'When you're not around, I get these terrible feelings. I got the same feelings when I was younger, and that's when I tried to kill myself.' "Angelina said, 'I feel lost without you — like I'm being abandoned.' "Brad quickly calmed Angelina down, telling her, 'I'll always be there for you and the kids. I promise.'" As the couple recently attended the UNICEF charity ball (Dec. 2009) and appeared quite happy and affectionate, the story about their split and her wish for an untimely death seem dubious [unlikely and doubtful] at best.

Angelina Jolie - San Francisco Chronicle Posted: 04 Jan 2010 02:05 PM PST Angelina Jolie kids can't touch inheritance until they are 25Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt carry their children, Shiloh Jolie-Pitt and Zahara Jolie Pitt, as they leave the set of 'Salt' in Manhattan. Angelina Jolie's children won't be able to touch the money left to them by their late grandmother, Marcheline Bertrand, until they turn 25. French actress Bertrand left a large portion of her estate to Jolie's kids Maddox, 8, Zahara, 4, and Shiloh, 3 -- the three grandchildren she met before she lost her battle with ovarian cancer in January 2007. They were each left $100,000, but according to papers filed in Los Angeles Superior Court last week, the money has been placed in trust funds and the kids will only gain access to their inheritance on their 25th birthdays, reports TMZ.com. Jolie's three other children with partner Brad Pitt were not included in Bertrand's will: Pax, 6, who was adopted two months after his grandmother's death and twins Knox and Vivienne, who were born in July 2008. Bertrand, who died at the age of 56, left her $661,000 estate in the hands of Jolie and her brother, James Haven.
