VANCOUVER — Angelina Jolie and best boyfriend Brad Pitt are doing just dandy, says the guy who should know: Angelina's dad Jon Voight.

The celeb blogosphere has been going wacky lately over rumours Hollywood's hottest couple were in the dumps, visiting their respective lawyers to sort out their six-sibling brood and their considerable wealth, modestly estimated at over 300 million clams.

But Voight, who has had a rocky relationship with his daughter, says Brad and Angelina are jake, thank you very much.

When asked about the so-called split, grandaddy Jon was firm. "Nonsense. It's all made up stuff," he was quoted in the Sydney Morning Herald.

That's not a bad line on the truth of the state of Brangelina, but for the lowdown, we, and the Morning Herald, go to that purveyor of all things honest, "source," who comes clean on the visit to the lawyers.

"Brad and Angelina had a meeting with a top law firm in Los Angeles in December, where they worked out terms of a legal document similar to a pre-nup. The couple signed the document in early January. They agreed to share their money and assets and custody of their six children, all of whom would live with Angelina in the event of their parents' break-up."

That sure sounds authoritative doesn't it? But hold on till we hear from the even more reliable, "generic."

Oh, wait a sec, here's more from the Morning Herald: "But those close to the couple are adamant they have no intention of separating."

So all that lost sleep was over nothing? Snore on, fans.

Last weekend, word got out in the tabloid media that Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, known as Brangelina for short, had seen a divorce attorney to make arrangements for their split. Since they share the custody of six children, they needed the lawyer's services to provide for them. The rumor has been rubbished by several unconfirmed sources but, as the New York Daily News puts it, there might be some truth to it.

For instance, Pitt and Jolie did meet with an attorney, but it wasn't to take action in view of an imminent separation, but as a preventive step in case a rift should occur sometime in the future. That is to say, they did not ask for legal counseling because they want to break up, but because they're trying to think of all possibilities should the situation occur, the publication says, citing sources close to the couple.

"After days of speculation about a possible breakup between Mr. Pitt and his other half, Angelina Jolie, word is surfacing that the power couple did indeed visit a high-powered L.A. lawyer last week – but only to cover their assets. 'They aren't married, so they need to protect their children and property in case there's a rift in the future,' a source says. That certainly makes sense, considering the two are worth a whopping $330 million combined," the NY Daily News writes.

"So why are rumors of a breakup running rampant? 'People hear "legal papers" and assume it means a divorce,' our snitch continues. 'But it could mean exactly the opposite. Either way, they're making sure to get their ducks in a row, which they'll need whether they split or stay together forever.' That's not the only reason for so many whispers: Rumors started swirling when the couple was a no-show to a pair of recent award programs," the publication goes on to say.

Nevertheless, that last part is not that out of the ordinary when it comes to the two stars. Neither of them was running in a major category at the Globes, so there was literally no reason to make a public appearance, another tipster explains for the same e-zine.

ANGELINA JOLIE PAYS TRIBUTE TO LATE MUM - New Kerala

ANGELINA JOLIE has created a touching video tribute to her late mother MARCHELINE BERTRAND on the third anniversary of her death.

The Tomb Raider star and her brother James Haven, Bertrand's children with Jon Voight, have honoured their beloved mum by compiling home video footage shot during a family vacation in Hawaii in 1981.

The clip, entitled To Mom With Love - James and Angelina, starts with the message: "One place Marcheline loved was Hawaii. She made many happy memories for her family there."

Bertrand can then be seen with James and a six-year-old Jolie, dancing hula on the beach and playing in their hotel room.

The actress lost her battle with ovarian cancer on 27 January 2007 at the age of 56.
