Hollywood's most benevolent couple, Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt, were in a giving mood at Christmas, handing over $100,000 to the SOS Children's Villages charity in America.

The organisation is a foster care facility, which enables siblings to stay together during the adoption process.

In a statement, mum-of-six Jolie says, "We have seen first-hand the remarkable job SOS does to raise orphaned and abandoned children and keep families together."

Pitt adds, "In this holiday season, many of us take for granted that we are surrounded by loving family members. The poor outcomes for foster children indicate that we must do a much better job of supporting them."

December 27, 2009: Hollywood's most benevolent couple, ANGELINA JOLIE and BRAD PITT, were in a giving mood at Christmas (09), handing over USD 100,000 (GBP62,500) to the SOS Children's Villages charity in America.

The organisation is a foster care facility, which enables siblings to stay together during the adoption process.

Angelina Jolie believes that fidelity is over-rated. 'Neither Brad nor I have ever claimed that living together means to be chained together. We make sure that we never restrict each other. I doubt that fidelity is absolutely essential for a relationship,' she said. The comments come after months of reports that the couple was on the outs. They have been seen in recent weeks, however, presenting a strong, united front. She continued: 'It's worse to leave your partner and talk badly about him afterwards.' The couple keeps a string of international residences and a flock of multi-national children that number six. She admitted: 'The sparks fly at home if the nice Brad fails to see that he's wrong and reacts in a defiant way. Then I can get so angry that I tear his shirt. 'We're not violent enough for these things, and we consider our six children.' Of the children, Maddox, eight, Pax, six, Zahara, four, Shiloh, three, and twins Knox and Vivienne, one, the last three are the couple's biological kids.
