Is history repeating itself? As Hollywood superstar Angelina Jolie has beaten
off competition from Jennifer Aniston to be named the 'beauty icon of the
decade' in a new poll.
According to Superdrug, who comissioned the research, which saw 3,000 people questioned, Jolie's famous pout, thick hair and "strong character" made her the envy of women around the world, Telegraph online reported. Jolie now lives with Brad Pitt, who was previously married to Aniston. "Angelina Jolie is not a conventional beauty but her strong character shines through her fabulous features to give her a unique standing in the beauty world," Steve Jebson, Commercial Director for Superdrug, said. "It's worth noting that while everyone talks about Angelina's pout we find that its her long thick lustrous hair that really makes British women envious, as well as a figure made for red carpet posturing," he added. Aniston came second while, Australian pop princess Kylie Minogue was ranked third in the poll followed by Catherine Zeta Jones. Cheryl Cole, 'The Girls Aloud' star, came fifth. "It is great to see that the list is packed with women of all ages and colouring in the top twenty, from the ageless beauty Joanna Lumley to new national sweet heart Cheryl Cole," Jebson said. Actress Scarlett Johansson was at six, followed by Keira Knightly. R&B star Beyonce was eighth while 'Armageddon' star Liv Tyler was at nine. Oscar-winning actress Halle Berry completed the top ten. So despite being potentially in the firing line of gossip folks who can play relationship spoilers by way of their make – believe hook – up stories, wonder how this glam pair has managed to survive? Must be their undying trust and unflinching faith……won't you say? Well as it appears, not entirely! Coz the outrageously sensuous Angie is one woman who is surprisingly open when it comes to relationships and reportedly dosen't demand any tall spousal standards from beau Brad Pitt. The lady further contends that for her fidelity ought not to be the essential pre – requisite or the sole determinant of a successful relationship and she even has no qualms with a dash of extra – marital voyeurism. Says the lady in an interview with the German Das Neue magazine, "I doubt that fidelity is absolutely essential for a relationship. It's worse to leave your partner and talk badly about him afterwards. Neither Brad nor I have ever claimed that living together means to be chained together. The Hollywood couple - who raise six children together - gave the American SOS Villages in Florida and Illinois the Christmas present after being impressed by the work they do. Angelina said of the generous gift: "We have seen firsthand the remarkable job SOS does to raise orphaned and abandoned children and keep families together. No one 'ages out' of an SOS Village: vocational training, advanced education, living assistance and moral support are there forever." The SOS Villages house over 200 disadvantaged children and Brad said it was important to show gratitude for the work they do. He said: "In this holiday season, many of us take for granted that we are surrounded by loving family members. The poor outcomes for foster children indicate that we must do a much better job of supporting them." It was recently revealed Brad and Angelina donated $6.8 million to charity last year after raising the money through their Jolie-Pitt Foundation. According to The Hollywood Reporter - which received a copy of the 2008 tax return for the charity - the Jolie-Pitt Foundation banked $13 million in 2008 and over half was given back to good causes.
