Brad Pitt Turns Down $5 Million For Trick-Or-Treating? - Post Chronicle Posted: 20 Nov 2009 06:51 AM PST Brad Pitt reportedly turned down $5 million for a public appearance to spend time with his children. The 'Burn After Reading' star had been due to attend the Grand Prix Ball Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates on October 31, but failed to show up. Photographs later revealed he had joined partner Angelina Jolie and their six children trick-or-treating for Halloween in Los Angeles. A source told Life and Style magazine: "He's spending more time with the family and doing less of these appearances, even though it's a huge sum of cash." A spokesperson for the event - which featured performances from Beyonce Knowles, Aerosmith and Timbaland, and raised money for clean water charity Fresh2o - admitted Brad had been expected to attend and was unsure why he had shunned the huge appearance fee. James Magee, a representative for Global Event Management, said: "We were told he would be attending as the guest of the Tourism Development and Investment Company. But he was a no-show, and nobody seemed to know why." (c) BANG This content has passed through fivefilters.org. |

LOS ANGELES - Hollywood power couple Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie are trying their hand at something new to dazzle their fans -- designing a jewelry collection. The "Protector" collection, designed for luxury British jeweler Asprey, is a range of gold jewelry and silver accessories that features snakes, considered a symbol of protection and admired by Jolie. Jolie, listed as Hollywood's top-earning actress by Forbes earlier this year, was first given a snake ring during her first pregnancy with daughter Shiloh, who was born in 2006. The couple now have six children. All net proceeds from the jewelry will be donated to the charity Education Partnership for Children of Conflict (EPCC), which Jolie co-founded in 2006 to raise money for educating child victims of war, conflict and natural disasters. Prices start at $525 (P24,700) for a silver spoon with a snaked-shaped handle. The line also including pendants, bracelets, rings and an egg cup. Asprey officials told Reuters Television that it took more than a year for the duo to design the limited-edition collection, which goes on sale this week at Asprey stores in London, New York, Beverly Hills, Tokyo and Dubai. From babies to baubles! Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie design snake ... - New York Daily News Posted: 17 Nov 2009 07:45 AM PST Tuesday, November 17th 2009, 11:33 AM Brangelina is moving on from babies to baubles. Women's Wear Daily reports that Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie are breaking into high-end accessories design with top British jeweler Asprey. A limited edition collection of snake-shaped gold and silver jewelry designed by the couple – called The Protector – hits Asprey boutiques in New York, London, Beverly Hills, Tokyo and Dubai on Tuesday. The pieces start at $525 for a silver baby spoon with a snakelike handle, plus glittery rings, earrings, pendants, bangles, and kids' accessories such as a tooth box and a silver egg cup. All net proceeds benefit the Education Partnership for Children of Conflict, which was cofounded by Jolie in 2006 and raises awareness and funds to educate child victims of war and natural disasters. ? "These are the children who most need a safe place to learn, a place to heal, a place to learn reconciliation, a place to build a better future and a place — to just be children," Jolie told WWD in an emailed statement. "Yet the education for these children is often forgotten. Tens of millions of children and adolescents in conflict are not in school." The serpentine shapes were inspired by a protective snake ring Jolie received when she was pregnant with Shiloh in 2006, according to People.com. The actress has considered the serpent a sort of family protector and talisman ever since. Her 16-month-old daughter, Vivienne, has been photographed wearing bangles shaped like snakes. It's definitely a step up from wearing a vial of Billy Bob Thornton's blood. This content has passed through fivefilters.org. |
