Brad Pitt & Angelina Jolie Donated Nearly $7 Million To Charities Last ... - Starpulse.com Posted: 24 Nov 2009 06:11 AM PST According to The Hollywood Reporter, the power couple's Jolie-Pitt Foundation earned just over $13 million last year. A tax return obtained for the organisation shows half that amount was donated to charities, including $2 million to non-profit Global Health, and another $1 million to both Human Rights Watch and Pitt's Make it Right Foundation, a fund created to help build homes in the movie couple's adopted, Hurricane-ravaged New Orleans, Louisiana. They also gave $500,000 to the Armed Services YMCA (The Young Men's Christian Association), $50,000 to public schools in Pitt's native Springfield, Missouri and approximately another $1 million to projects in Cambodia, where Jolie adopted eight-year-old Maddox, who has since become Pitt's son too.

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie Gave $6.4M to Charity in 2009 - Softpedia Posted: 24 Nov 2009 08:13 AM PST For much criticism they draw in the media for their personal life, despite not doing anything in particular to elicit such negative attention, Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie continue to do much good together as a celebrity couple. In fact, in 2009, the two have contributed over $6.4 million to charity, which virtually makes them the most dedicated couple out there, Showbiz411 has learned. It is a well known fact that both Pitt and Jolie are very involved in the charities they have set up throughout the years, even if the latter's commitment was intensely questioned in recent months. Still, the extent to which they have chosen to make charity an important aspect of their life was not known by now, but that's not to say that it hasn't managed to impress even the most skeptic of people. "According to the 2008 tax return for the Jolie-Pitt Foundation, the Hollywood couple sent over $6 million to charities last year. Indeed, they more than doubled what they gave in 2007, which is pretty impressive. In 2008, the pair parked just over $13 million in their foundation, and gave away half of it. The biggest recipients of their largesse were: Global Health ($2 million), Human Rights Watch ($1 million), Brad's Make It Right Foundation ($1 million)," Showbiz411 writes. "Some other notable contributions: $500,000 to the Armed Services YMCA of the US Army; $50,000 to the Springfield, Missouri Public Schools (Brad's hometown); and roughly a million dollars to projects in Cambodia, the country from which they adopted their first child. […] It's all about human rights initiatives and helping people. They've also kept their promises to places like Cambodia and Iraq. All together, the fair market value of the Jolie-Pitt Foundation is just over $12 million," the same publication further informs. Overall, even if they as a couple continue to polarize people's opinions, Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie are still the best example of celebrities doing good. They often travel to more destitute areas of the globe and make promises that they later deliver on, it is being said. For that alone, they deserve appreciation and respect. Angelina not adopting another child - IndiaTimes Posted: 24 Nov 2009 03:26 AM PST
Ever
since the news broke out that Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt are set to adopt
again, the tabloids have been busy predicting which country the couple would
head towards next.
However, bosses at an orphanage in Jordan have dismissed rumours that Hollywood's star couple made plans to adopt another child during a recent visit there, Hello magazine reported. The couple flew to the country last month and spent time at the SOS Children's Village in the capital city Amman. Jolie, who has supported the organisation for six years, was seen playing with youngsters in the kindergarten with Pitt, sparking rumours that she is planning to add a seventh child to her brood with the actor. But orphanage worker Aysha Shahin said that the couple was focused on meeting the children they've sponsored and that there are no plans for an adoption. "Angelina and Brad went to kindergarten, where they sang songs and danced with the children. We do not do adopting. I have not heard of any plans for her to adopt here in Jordan and in Syria it would be impossible," Shahin told the magazine. "Angelina did not talk about adoption. She just wanted to play with the kids. She is a sweetheart - one of our greatest supporters," she said. This content has passed through fivefilters.org. |
