Review: Murky controls, goals leave `WET' dry - Seattle Post Intelligencer

Someone at Bethesda Software did the right math. Draft-age males play games, so a slashing, pirouetting assassin with a body rivaling that of Angelina Jolie seems like the winning combo for the new title "WET."

But not everything in a successful game can be so easily contrived.

"WET" ($60 for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3) is a smart, aggressive, first-person shooter/slasher/fighter, but lacks a certain usability that sets the great games apart from the also-rans.

I played the Xbox360 version of the bawdy and bloody game, but quickly tired of this latest twist on FPS control.

"WET" means wet with blood. I was thrust into an ill-defined plot line as protagonist Rubi Malone, a buxom "fixer" dispatched around the globe to recover a wealthy man's son - and spare no lives doing it.

Rubi is killing killers, so it's hard to know who is trustworthy or if there are any good guys or girls. No mind, let the carnage begin.

Rubi's knockout figure and ability to perform athletic, gravity-defying moves while shooting is the alleged difference here. When she jumps, runs up a wall or slides along a floor, time slows for her and she bends backward and contorts her body to aim and shoot with accuracy.

This was fun for about the first 20 minutes or so, then, once I got the hang of it, the moves became routine - and a bit boring. It was also too easy to lose my bearings after completing the tricky moves. I would stand there after twisting and turning and killing a foe and wonder, "Now which way was I going?"

It would have been nice to have a small on-screen map or display with any mission objective details to remind me of my purpose on that level.

At the beginning of each level, there's a quick camera look-around that's supposed to be informative by showing you what to grab, open or find. It didn't help much. There just was enough cohesion to the action.

This game could - and should have been - better. It's got a nice feel, decent graphics and a sweet Quentin Tarantino flick feel, with a rough-edged rockabilly soundtrack. Sadly, it would probably make a better Tarantino movie than a video game.

"WET" is rated "M" for mature.

Designer On Angelina Jolie Snafu: ‘I Hung Up On Her Twice!’ - Access Hollywood

Posted: 16 Sep 2009 04:54 PM PDT

LOS ANGELES, Calif. --

When fashion designer Malcolm Harris got a call from Angelina Jolie, he thought he was being fooled – so he hung up.

"I actually hung up on her twice," Malcolm told Access Hollywood. "I thought it was a friend who usually plays pranks on me."

But instead, it was the actress and humanitarian, who wanted to support the designer's United Nations-friendly fashion. The actress was aware that a portion of the proceeds from each sale of his clothing goes toward the U.N.'s refugee effort, a cause Angelina has worked for as a Goodwill Ambassador.

As previously reported on AccessHollywood.com, the star will speak out on the subject this week, joining Anderson Cooper on CNN for World Refugee Day on Thursday.

And Angelina will have no shortage of clothing options to choose from.

"She bought it in three colors, hot pink, coral and black," Malcolm said of his "One Dress," a wrap that can be worn many different ways.

The affordable piece offers Hollywood style for only $225. But when will fans see Angelina in one of her new dresses? Malcolm himself would love to find out.

"I wish I knew," he said. "I'd probably camp out in her house to get the photo!"

Sexy Showdown: Angelina Jolie Barbarella Battle with Megan Fox - National Ledger

Posted: 13 Sep 2009 04:04 AM PDT

Will Angelina Jolie face off with Megan Fox for a role in the new remake of Barbarella? The two are said to vying for the feature role in the classic film re-make. Meanwhile, Megan Fox says she's "hysterically insecure" about her looks, despite being named the Sexiest Woman Alive by FHM magazine, earlier this year.

The 23-year-old star has confessed in a magazine interview that she is not confident about her appearance. The Transformers actress said: "I'm very confident in how I project my personality."

She adds, "But, in terms of how I look, I'm completely, hysterically insecure. "I'm self-loathing, introverted and neurotic." And the Transformers star said that she does not look like Angelina Jolie despite being frequently compared to the mother-of-six.

She said: "People see a dark-haired girl with tattoos who's in an action movie, and it's, 'She's the next Angelina. "But I have nothing in common with her." The actress also reveals that she wishes she had agreed to appearing in the Hannah Montana Movie, and thinks an ideal date would be: "A sexy sandwich with Andy Samberg and Jonah Hill"
