LONDON - Hollywood star Angelina Jolie took eldest daughter Zahara back to her native Ethiopia for the first time since she was adopted four years ago.

The actress, who is currently in Kenya on a United Nations mission with partner Brad Pitt and their six children, broke away from the trip at the weekend to cross the border into Ethiopia with four-year-old Zahara and her little sister Shiloh, 3, while Pitt and the couple's other four children stayed behind, reported femalefirst.co.uk.

'On a trip to Kenya with their children, Angelina stopped in Dabaab Refugee Camp, and also flew to Ethiopia with Zahara and Shiloh for two days,' said a source.

'It was the first time Zahara had been back home since her adoption. The trip was about keeping up that culture for her,' added the source.

It was also reported that Jolie is on the hunt for a property to build a tuberculosis and AIDS clinic in Zahara's name.

Elton John and partner David Furnish interested in adopting Ukrainian ... - New York Daily News

LONDON -- Look out, Madonna and Angelina Jolie - pop star Elton John may be joining the ranks of A-list celebrities with adopted children.

John and longtime partner David Furnish are interested in trying to adopt a Ukrainian toddler named Lev they met during an orphanage tour there.

The singer told reporters in Ukraine on Saturday that Furnish has long wanted to adopt a child but that he was reluctant until he met Lev at an orphanage where many of the children's parents have died from AIDS.

"David always wanted to adopt a child and I always said 'no' because I am 62 and I think because of the traveling I do and the life I have, maybe it wouldn't be fair for the child," John said. "But having seen Lev today, I would love to adopt him. I don't know how we do that but he has stolen my heart. And he has stolen David's heart and it would be wonderful if we can have a home. I've changed my mind today."

He acknowledged bureaucratic hurdles may make adoption of a Ukrainian child impossible.

John and Furnish, 46, toured the orphanage - where John performed for the children - as part of his Elton John's AIDS Foundation work. Ukraine has one of the fastest rising rates of HIV infection in Europe.

John said he was motivated in part by the sudden death last week of one of his closest friends, keyboardist Guy Babylon.

"It broke my heart because he was such a genius and so young and has two wonderful children," John said. "What better opportunity to replace someone I lost than to replace him with someone I can give a future to."

The four-year-old flew back home with her mother at the weekend.

It all happened when Jolie, currently in Kenya on a United Nations mission with partner Brad Pitt and their six children, broke away from the trip to cross the border into Ethiopia.

Zahara's little sister Shiloh, 3, also accompanied them.

However, Pitt and the couple's other four children stayed behind.

"On a trip to Kenya with their children, Angelina stopped in Dabaab Refugee Camp, and also flew to Ethiopia with Zahara and Shiloh for two days," Contactmusic quoted a source as having told People.com.

"(It was) the first time Zahara had been back home since her adoption. The trip was about keeping up that culture for her," the source added.

If reports are to be believed, Jolie is looking for a property to build a tuberculosis and AIDS clinic in Zahara's name.

The Hollywood couple jointly founded a similar organisation to aid impoverished children-known as the Maddox Jolie-Pitt Project-after adopting their eight-year-old son Maddox from Cambodia in 2002.
