Washington, September 14 (ANI): Angelina Jolie recently visited a refugee settlement camp in Africa. As United Nations Goodwill Ambassador she spent a day at the Dadaab Refugee camp on the Kenyan border. The beauty was appalled to see the conditions of 285,000 refugees living in a camp, which was initially made for just 90,000 people.
Somali people, who have fled into Kenya because of atrocities in their country, live in the camp. The 'Gia' star wants to bring world's attention to the plight of the refugees. "If this is the better solution, then what must it be like in Somalia? The toilets are already overflowing. There is not even enough space for trash dumps so people are living amongst the garbage," Contactmusic quoted her as saying. "What is amazing is that as more and more people come into the camp, the Somali families continue to be generous with what little they have, even if that means having one eighth of the water they need and their children suffering from dehydration," she added. The beauty met some families in the camp too. She said: "The Somali families I met today are full of warmth and affection. | Sideshow: Elton John wants to adopt - Philiy.com Posted: 14 Sep 2009 03:56 AM PDT Pop star Elton John and longtime partner David Furnish are interested in trying to adopt a Ukrainian toddler named Lev they met during an orphanage tour there. The singer told reporters in Ukraine on Saturday that Furnish, 46, wanted to adopt a child, but he was reluctant until he met the child at an orphanage where many of the children's parents have died from AIDS. "I don't know how we do that, but he has stolen my heart," John said. "And he has stolen David's heart, and it would be wonderful if we can have a home. I've changed my mind today." He acknowledged bureaucratic hurdles could make adoption of a Ukrainian child impossible.
Lending EvaEva Longoria Parker, the fashion-concious star of Desperate Housewives, will star on Project Runway on Thursday. Parker will be a judge for the unconventional-materials challenge - using newspaper. The show is also hinting the episode will be "must-see" with a scandal.
TV as creative artTina Fey received an Emmy Award on Saturday for her impersonation of Republican vice presidential contender Sarah Palin on Saturday Night Live. Accepting her trophy for best guest actress in a comedy, Fey thanked SNL producer Lorne Michaels and her parents, "who are lifelong Republicans, for their patience." She was honored at the Creative Arts Primetime Emmys, which recognize technical and other achievements for the 2008-09 season and preceded next Sunday's main ceremony. Justin Timberlake was another SNL winner Saturday, honored as best guest actor in a comedy series. Michael J. Stalking "The Hills"A Los Angeles County Superior Court judge issued a temporary restraining order Friday against a Northern California man accused of stalking The Hills star Audrina Partridge. Zachory Loring, 24, is barred from coming within 100 yards of the reality-TV celebrity. Loring is accused of showing up at Partridge's Los Angeles home last month and handing her a stack of materials, including poems and a photo of a woman being strangled. Her lawyers say he returned two more times, once staying on her porch for seven hours.
Black, white and red for loveBrad Arnold, lead singer of the rock band 3 Doors Down, married horseback rider Jennifer Sanderford on Saturday. The childhood friends wed in their hometown of Escatawpa, Miss., People reported. They used black and white for the colors in their "simple but pretty" 120-guest ceremony. Arnold said the bride opted against reciting vows, but he told her, "Baby, you at least have to say 'I do.' "
Weekend box officeTyler Perry's latest movie, I Can Do Bad All By Myself, made the top of the weekend's box office with more than $24 million. The Lionsgate comedy stars Oscar nominee Taraji P. Henson as a nightclub singer caring for a delinquent niece and nephews. Perry's Madea Goes to Jail also debuted at the top spot with $41 million in February. Coming in second last weekend was the animated 9, with more than $15 million, according to Sunday estimates. Rounding out the top five were Inglourious Basterds, All About Steve, and The Final Destination.

Followers of the feud now wait with bated breath thanks to MSN Entertainment's recent announcement of both women vying for the staring role of the remake of the 1960's classic Barbarella, a role made iconic by Jane Fonda. For her part, Megan, 23, says all the Barbarella buzz about the head-to-head with Angie is just a load of rumors. CNN reports from the Toronto Film Festival that Megan wouldn't say no, if and when that call comes, but it hasn't yet. She adds that she and Angie, 34, aren't "really in the same age group." Ouch. Metaphorical punches were first thrown when Megan reportedly told BBC News that she looked "way better than her [Angelina]." While both Megan and Angelina maintain a sultry reputation, the public has wasted no time circulating internet rumors of the two partaking in intense and dirty competition for the title of sexiest celeb. Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt are reportedly focusing on expanding their family. Sources say the couple is working on conceiving their seventh child.
