Angelina Jolie was reported overcome with emotion during a trip to a refugee settlement in Africa over the weekend.

The "Tomb Raider" actress, a United Nations Goodwill Ambassador, spent a day at the Dadaab refugee camp on the Kenyan border to see the conditions that 285,000 starving Somali refugees live in and could not control her feelings from showing, reports contactmusic.com.

The camp, built to house just 90,000, was set up to aid people who have escaped the terror of their own country and fled into Kenya.

Jolie, who hopes to bring the plight of the Somali people to the public's attention, met a number of families at the camp - and said she was appalled at their living conditions.

"If this is the better solution,

then what must it be like in Somalia? The toilets are already overflowing. There is not even enough space for trash dumps so people are living amongst the garbage," she said.

"What is amazing is that as more and more people come into the camp, the Somali families continue to be generous with what little they have, even if that means having one eighth of the water they need and their children suffering from dehydration."

"The Somali families I met today are full of warmth and affection. I wish more people could meet them because then they would have a stronger desire to help," she added.

Elton John can't adopt a 14-month-old Ukrainian orphan because the singer is unmarried and too old, an adoption official said Monday.

John and longtime partner David Furnish tied the knot in 2005 in one of the first legalized civil unions in Britain, but Ukraine does not recognize gays unions as marriage.

Ukrain'es Family, Youth and Sports Minister Yuriy Pavlenko added that a prospective parent cannot be more than 45 years older than an adopted child.

John, 62, toured a Ukrainian orphanage Saturday with his longtime partner, and announced he wanted to adopt an HIV-infected boy who he said stole their heart.

"David always wanted to adopt a child, and I always said no because I am 62. And I think because of the traveling I do and the life I have, maybe it wouldn't be fair for the child," John told reporters.

He said his reluctance melted after meeting the bubbly blond toddler, Lev.

"I've changed my mind," he said. "I would love to adopt him."

But Pavlenko said that John and Furnish aren't qualified to join the ranks of A-list adoptive parents like Angelina Jolie and Madonna, the New York Daily News reports.

Ukrainian President Viktor Yushchenko could step in to grant John and Furnish's wish, but reportedly that would mean the famous couple also must adopt Lev's brother, also in the

orphanage's care.

The head of Madonna's Raising Malawi charity has quit after becoming romantically involved with the star's personal trainer, Tracy Anderson.

Executive director Philippe van den Bossche, who helped Madonna adopt her daughter, Mercy, is leaving the charity's Los Angeles headquarters to live with Anderson in New York, according to the New York Post.

Anderson, who helped get Madonna into super-fit form, said, "Philippe and I have been together for eight months, and things are great. I live wherever Madonna is, so Philippe is moving from LA to New York," the paper's website reports.

Anderson and van den Bossche reportedly became close during the Material Mom's trips to

Malawi to adopt David Banda and Mercy.

Scottish singing sensation Susan Boyle spent her first hours in the United States getting the royal treatment.

The "Britain's Got Talent" star was taken to Disneyland in Anaheim, California by assistants and brought friends along for the ride.

The 48-year-old singer is in the U.S. ahead of her performance on the final of "America's Got Talent," and was mobbed at the airport by adoring fans, press and paparazzi, London's Daily Mail reports.

Boyle toured Disneyland with her friends and even took the Dumbo ride.

On Wednesday's final show of "America's Got Talent" Susan will perform the Rolling Stones song "Wild Horses" - the first single off her

forthcoming album - as well as the Les Miserables' classic which catapulted her to fame, "I Dreamed A Dream."

Comic Ray Romano is going to the golf doctor.

The Golf Channel says the "Everybody Loves Raymond" star will be the focus of its new reality series, "The Haney Project." The series follows Tiger Woods' swing coach Hank Haney as he tries to improve the game of a celebrity.

The first season of "The Haney Project" with former NBA player Charles Barkley was the second-highest rated program in the network's history. Only "The Big Break," about competing for a spot on the professional tour, did better. The Golf Channel started in 1995.

Barkley's appeal was his hideously bad swing. Funnyman Romano, who's "obsessed" with golf and wants to get better, will add entertainment value to the show, said Tom Spathakes, the network's programming chief.

The Romano project is expected to air in March.

The Golf Channel is trying to become more than just putts and slices. "Law & Order" actor Anthony Anderson is host of a news program called "Golf in America," and the network is filming a reality series about troubled golfer John Daly.
