The Tourist has the world talking, and not just because we're waiting for Angelina Jolie and Johnny Depp to run off together after filming. The film is based on a novel by crime author Patricia Cornwell, and Cornwell's fans feel Angelina is too "exotic" for the part. Get the story here.

Cornwell's best-selling crime novels have magnetized hundreds of thousands of fans, most of whom appear to have been satisfied with Jodie Foster for the part of the story's heroine Kay Scarpetta. Foster turned down the role, and Angelina Jolie shocked Patricia Cornwell when she showed interest in the part. Jolie and Cornwell met to dicuss The Tourist on the set of Salt, Jolie's last film.

But Cornwell's fans wanted to see the part of Kay Scarpetta played by someone less striking. The character in the novel has short, blonde hair, a slighter build and less extreme features than Jolie. She's also supposed to range in her early to mid forties, but Jolie, as we know, is only 34. Apparently her character helps lead investigators to catch her old flame. (But interestingly, film industry sources aren't referring to Jolie's character as "Kay Scarpetta" -- her name is still listed as Cara Mason in film databases...)

The book industry is excited for the flick no less, as Angelina's involvement in this Cornwell novel is expected to spike crime novel sales drastically. One insider says The Tourist is "a sure bet to hit number one." Filming is in full swing and Johnny Depp will walk onset any day now (icky hygiene and all).

Angelina Jolie is hard at work in Paris filming "The Tourist," about "an American tourist, played by Johnny Depp, lured into a nefarious plot of intrigue by a female Interpol agent (Jolie) as she attempts to locate a criminal," according to Entertainment Weekly.

Jon Voight had a ''wonderful'' time in Venice with estranged daughter Angelina Jolie and her six children.

Angelina Jolie's father says their reconciliation was "wonderful".

The Oscar-winning beauty - who raises six children with her partner Brad Pitt - was photographed with her estranged dad Jon Voight and her kids in Venice on Sunday (21.02.10) and the veteran actor is delighted they managed to put their differences behind them.

Speaking on his return from Italy, he smiled and said: "It was good. We spent quality time together. I don't want to talk about it too much but it was wonderful."

The 71-year-old star also praised Brad, describing him as "terrific".

Asked if he would be supporting the 'Inglorious Basterds' star at the forthcoming Academy Awards, he told TMZ: "He isn't up for Best Actor this year, but everything he does is terrific."

Brad, 46, is believed to have encouraged 34-year-old Angelina - who has been living in Venice while she prepares to shoot 'The Tourist' opposite Johnny Depp - to "smooth things over" with Jon.

A source said: "Since Brad and Angelina have been together, he has been encouraging her to smooth things over with her dad. And when it comes to the kids, Brad wants them to know their grandfather the way the kids know his parents."

The 'Wanted' actress - who has three adopted children, Maddox, eight, five-year-old Zahara and Pax, six, and three biological children, Shiloh, three, and 19-month-old twins Knox and Vivienne with Brad - has been at war with her dad for years after he accused her of having "mental problems" shortly after her split from ex-husband Billy Bob Thornton in 2002.

The screen veteran has previously spoken about how he hoped to reconcile with his daughter on a permanent basis, saying: "We're in touch, but not regularly. We love each other and that's the most important thing."

There's this common saying, 'All is well that ends well.' This seems to be the case with 'Mr. and Mrs. Smith' co-stars Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt who seem to have consolidated their paradise walls which, at one time, seemed to be crumbling under the stone pelting of the tabloid.

But, apart from the togetherness of Brangelina, there's another reason to celebrate for these jolly love-birds. Another reconciliation has, reportedly, materialised and that, too, between the estranged father-daughter duo of Jon Voight and Angelina. The reports are seemingly true based on the ground of the snapshot that was clicked in Venice this Sunday (21st February, 2010) which shows Brangelina with her pack of 6 children surrounded by her 71-year old dad Jon.

And if grapevine is to be believed than it's the hand of Brad Pitt that has restitched the torn relationship of dad n daughter.
