BUSTY video game icon Lara Croft will lend her name to a curvy new RING ROAD.

The Tomb Raider babe, played by Angelina Jolie in movie adaptations of the hit games, was created by Derby-based Core Design in the mid-1990s.

Bosses at the city's council today announced their new 36million ring road will be called Lara Croft Way following a public vote.

Nearly 28,000 people took part in the online poll, and Lara Croft emerged the clear winner — with 89 per cent of the vote.

Part of the ring road will also be named Mercian Way after the army regiment which recruits soldiers from the area.

Other ideas included John Flamsteed Way, after the first Astronomer Royal, and Merlin Way, in recognition of the famous Rolls-Royce engine.

Councillor Lucy Care, in charge of planning at the council, said: "The suggestion of Lara Croft Way was one of the most popular in an earlier, lower-key request to the public for suggestions.

"The vote itself clearly really captured the imagination of people from across the world and this support means Lara Croft is too overwhelming to ignore.

"She was created in Derby and this naming will identify a time and place in history where she can stand alongside some of the more traditional icons of the city."

Jolie is speaking to her dad again after Voight promises to keep quiet about her personal life

The weekend sighting of Angelina Jolie with her long-estranged dad Jon Voight in Venice caused big buzz, but their reconciliation actually started ''a few months ago, after many long talks between Jon and Angie,'' a longtime Voight associate told me Sunday.

The source said it was all about Voight firmly promising -- ''over and over and over again'' -- that he would never again talk to the press about any personal things involving Brangelina or their kids.

''I get the impression Jon is so anxious to have a relationship with Angie [Brad Pitt] and his grandchildren, he guaranteed he would really be careful about all future comments,'' indicating Jolie even demanded her father make his pledge in writing.

WHY WAS HE THERE? I'm hearing Tiger Woods' wife Elin was very unhappy her husband invited longtime pal Bryon Bell to that select group present for Tiger's statement Friday morning. Elin's ire stems from the fact Bell often acted as her hubby's ''beard'' -- escorting various Woods mistresses, including Rachel Uchitel, to secret rendevous, including one in Australia.

Brad Pitt & Angelina Jolie were spotted with children Maddox, Shiloh, Pax, & Zahara in Venice yesterday. Twins Vivienne and Knox were nowhere in sight. A convenient photo op, don't you think? It's their way of thumbing their noses at the gossip mill. They're still together. We get it. See more photos after the jump!

Angelina recently urged prospective parents not to adopt Haitian orphans following January's devastating earthquake because she fears the disaster could lead to a rise in child trafficking. She said, "An emergency is not the time for new adoptions in any way. Child trafficking has been a huge problem for a very long time. Everybody that means well needs to really take that very seriously."

The actress is in Italy to shoot scenes of the movie "The Tourist." In the film, an American tourist (Johnny Depp) realizes that a female Interpol agent (Jolie) is using him to flush out the elusive criminal with whom she once had an affair, the stage is set for a game of international intrigue that threatens to turn deadly.
