Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie to split - Adelaide Now Posted: 24 Jan 2010 08:26 AM PST SOURCES close to actors Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie say there is no truth to rumours that the celebrity superstar couple has split. The story claiming Pitt and Jolie had broken up first appeared in the British newspaper News of the World on Sunday, and was picked up by international websites. But US celebrity website People.com says "multiple sources" close to the family say the rumours are false. "Everything is fine" with the couple, a source told People.com. Another source said the split reports were "totally false". Jolie is reportedly in New York for a Vanity Fair magazine photo shoot, while Pitt has stayed in Los Angeles to take part in the Hope for Haiti Now telethon. The rumours took off after Pitt failed to attend Saturday's Screen Actors Guild Awards, where his film Inglourious Basterds picked up the award for best ensemble cast. According to the News of the World, the couple - who are not married - filed separation papers with a Los Angeles lawyer. The couple has six children, three of whom are adopted. The couple, known as Brangelina, have been together since shooting the thriller Mr and Mrs Smith five years ago. They are said to have agreed that the children will live with Jolie. The couple are not married - having said they would marry only when American homosexuals were also able to wed. Even so, documents were filed with a Los Angeles lawyer earlier this month to help with a smooth separation, unnamed sources told the News of the World newspaper. The newspaper said Pitt and Jolie will keep all the money they have earned, which Forbes estimates at more than US$100 million each. Pitt, 46, will have full access to their three biological children, Shiloh and the twins Knox and Vivienne, as well as three adopted children, Maddox, from Cambodia, Zahara, from Ethiopia, and Pax, from Vietnam. All have the surname Jolie-Pitt. On Saturday, associates of both actors declined to comment, one saying it was a "private matter". The News of the World says the lawyers, based in Beverly Hills, have cleared the path for an announcement that has been the subject of rumors for many months. Last week, National Enquirer magazine carried a story that Pitt and Jolie had a final explosive row at a New York restaurant called the Alto on January 6. It claimed that Pitt staged the six-hour dinner as an intervention to persuade Jolie, 34, to get psychiatric help. It alleged that she had suffered depression since the death of her mother from ovarian cancer three years ago, since when Jolie's weight has dropped dramatically. It also claimed she had made a suicide attempt. The magazine said that after that stormy night, the couple agreed their relationship was over and "their focus is now on making a smooth transition for their children". Pitt and Jennifer Aniston, 40, his former wife, were seen backstage together at the Haiti telethon in Los Angeles on Friday while Jolie was in New York promoting her next film, Salt. Brad Pitt, Angelina Jolie reportedly plan split - AZCentral.com Posted: 24 Jan 2010 09:38 AM PST Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie have reportedly visited divorce lawyers to help them separate. The pair - who aren't married, but have been dating since 2004 and raise six children together - are believed to have signed legal documents earlier this month with the plan to split up in the near future. The legal document will reportedly see their $330 million fortune halved in two, while the pair will have joint custody of their kids. A source told the News of the World newspaper: "The document was signed in early January. Both Brad and Angelina had signed it. The contract was like a tailor-made version of a pre-nuptial agreement except for an unmarried couple's split. "It seemed clear they want the world to know they'll both play a part in the upbringing of the children. But Angelina will actually be the one who lives with them full-time." Brad and Angelina have three adopted children, Maddox, eight, Pax, six, and Zahara, five, as well as three biological kids, Shiloh, three and 17-month-old twins Knox and Vivienne. It is believed the pair visited a top Los Angeles law firm in December last year, and have since hired an attorney specializing in celebrity divorces. While an official separation date has not been confirmed, it has been claimed the couple plan to announce their split soon. The source added: "There's no date for when the contract would come into effect. But the paperwork is already organized for a break- up - and for it to be as un-messy for them as possible. It is clear it's a case of when they break up rather than if." The couple first got together in 2004 after they starred together in 'Mr. and Mrs. Smith'. Brad ended his marriage to actress Jennifer Aniston shortly after, following four-and-a-half years of marriage. Five Filters featured article: Chilcot Inquiry. Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie break up? Brangelina meet with lawyers to ... - New York Daily News Posted: 24 Jan 2010 12:58 PM PST Originally Published:Saturday, January 23rd 2010, 10:19 PM Say it ain't so - Brangelina might soon be just Brad and Angelina. The Hollywood power couple is headed for splitsville, London's News of the World reported Saturday. Citing sources, the paper said Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie have met with California divorce lawyers and have agreed to divide their vast fortune. It's worth an estimated $330 million and includes mansions in France, New Orleans and Los Angeles. In legal papers signed by the unmarried stars this month, the world's most famous couple also has agreed to share custody of their six kids, sources say. The children will reportedly live full-time with Jolie. "The contract was like a tailor-made version of a prenuptial agreement," a source told the British tab. "It seemed clear they want the world to know they'll both play a part in the upbringing of the children." It's unclear when the contract will go into effect. "But the paperwork is already organized for a breakup - and for it to be as unmessy for them as possible," the source said. "It is clear it's a case of when they break up rather than if." Though he won't be living with them, Pitt, 46, will have full access to their three biological children - Shiloh and twins Knox and Vivienne - as well as the three adopted children - Maddox, from Cambodia; Zahara, from Ethiopia; and Pax, from Vietnam. Pitt reportedly purchased a million-dollar mansion last week just next door to the couple's main estate in Los Angeles. The couple has been together since shooting the action film "Mr. & Mrs. Smith" five years ago, when Pitt was married to Jennifer Aniston. Pitt and Jolie, 34, have not been photographed together in recent days, fueling rumors that their storybook relationship was on the rocks. Pitt was photographed Friday night backstage at the Hope for Haiti telethon in Los Angeles, but Jolie was nowhere in sight. Aniston was there, manning a telephone and taking donations. Jolie and Pitt were conspicuously absent from the Golden Globes last weekend, even though his film, "Inglourious Basterds," was nominated for several awards. The National Enquirer reported that Pitt and Jolie had a heated argument Jan. 6 inside the Alto restaurant in midtown. The magazine said Pitt demanded Jolie get psychiatric help for the depression she has suffered from since the death of her mother three years ago. A hostess told the Daily News the pair appeared tense during a six-hour dinner with four others, but did not have a blowout. Sources say Pitt and Jolie also have quarreled over their home in New Orleans. "Brad loves spending time in New Orleans, but Angie doesn't," a source told Us Weekly. "She keeps yelling at him that she hates New Orleans and never wants to go back." In December, Jolie told a German magazine that fidelity is over-rated. "Neither Brad nor I have ever claimed that living together means to be chained together," Jolie told Das Neue. "We make sure that we never restrict each other. I doubt that fidelity is absolutely essential for a relationship." Added Jolie: "It's worse to leave your partner and talk badly about him afterwards." Reps from both the Pitt and Jolie camps declined to comment Saturday. With Mike Jaccarino Five Filters featured article: Chilcot Inquiry.
