This is why it's vital for Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie to break up. Preferably in the most acrimonious way possible, and with as much mention as Jennifer Aniston as they can muster.

Now, let me just state that I hold no animosity toward or, for that matter, even care about Pitt, Jolie & children. But the moment for their break up is now. As hard-working Americans struggle to find work, or pay their medical expenses, or to live after getting a Taliban bullet in the forehead, now more than ever is the time we need Hollywood to come through.

Americans are, by and large, a good, service-minded type of people. But for the most part, we Americans have the memory spans of single-celled creatures. This is why a Pitt-Jolie split would truly comfort the American people. The wall-to-wall-to-wall coverage such a split would create would banish all other news to obscure Web sites or PBS. Only the direct return of Jesus Christ would garner as much attention, and he doesn't seem overly interested in getting involved.

So here's to the crumbling relationship of Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie. The U.S. mainstream media is anxiously awaiting the break-up, as they aren't exactly overly fond of reporting real news. The American people are anxiously awaiting, as well, as living vicariously through other people's dramas is our true national pastime. A Pitt-Jolie split would wipe the slate clean. We would be reborn into a world where only they mattered. Pitt-Jolie would be the only thing worth talking about.

Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt must break up. And soon. For America.

The British tabloids are sticking with the Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie split story despite an official announcement failing to come from the celebrity couple.

The Daily Mail is running with a story reporting Pitt has moved into a new bachelor pad in the Hollywood Hills. The $1.5 million house is relatively small by megastar standards but if we can believe the UK newspapers the 46-year old actor sitting out the separation in seclusion.

It was reported earlier this week that Pitt and Jolie have decided to end their 5-year relationship. They have six children, three biological and three adopted, but they never married.

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie hooked up after working together on the movie 'Mr and Mrs Smith'. She had come off two broken marriages, one with Billy Bob Thornton. Pitt was with Jennifer Aniston for four years before Jolie.

Brad's mother Jane is a family counsellor. She is expected to meet Angelina next week solve the relationship breakdown.

Jane Pitt is very close to Angelina Jolie. The two women set up a cancer centre together.

A former housekeeper at the Waldorf-Astoria in New York told In Touch Weekly she saw what looked like the "aftermath of passion" in a room rented by Angelina Jolie.

Angie and Brad Pitt have been the center of break-up rumors ever since the U.K. publication News of the World claimed the couple, who is not married, hired divorce lawyers to help them divide up their assets.

The hotel employee, Anna Kowlaski, told In Touch that Angelina had a fling with one of the dialect coaches she worked with on the set of her upcoming film Salt.

Kowlaski claims she was shocked by what she saw after one of Angie's late-night meetings. The housekeeper claims the hotel room was a "disaster." There was water all over the bathroom, several empty vodka bottles, dozens of orchids strewn across the room, and black rubber sheets and sex toys on the bed.
