UNHCR Goodwill Ambassador Angelina Jolie laughs with an internally displaced Iraqi boy at a makeshift camp northwest of Baghdad, on July 23. Jolie was on a one-day mission to Iraq to bring attention to the plight of displaced people in the region.

Angelina Jolie has been left awestruck by the strength of the thousands of displaced citizens in war-torn Iraq after paying her third visit to the country on Thursday on behalf of the United Nations.

The Hollywood actress, a U.N. Goodwill Ambassador, met with four families who had been forced to relocate from their home in the district of Abu Ghraib to the west of Baghdad.

The locals spoke to mother-of-six Jolie about the hardships they faced and their struggle to cover medical costs for various illnesses, according to the U.N. Refugee Agency.

After hearing about one man's fight to raise his family in the tough conditions, the star said, "It takes a lot of strength for you to survive this life. I don't know if I would be strong enough to survive this."

Jolie observed some changes in conditions since her last visit, but admitted a lot still needed to be done before the refugees could return to normality.

She noted, "There are some changes. There are returns of displaced people, not a big number, but there is progress. This is a moment where things seem to be improving on the ground, but Iraqis need a lot of support and help to rebuild their lives."

Jolie has vowed to return to do all she can to help refugees rebuild their lives, telling the families, "I want to come back and find you in a better place and in a different situation. We hope that UNHCR (United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees) and the government will support you in getting a piece of land. You need help not because you are poor, but because you are the future of Iraq."

The star's trip to the Middle East began on Tuesday when she flew in with her 7-year-old son, Maddox, to attend the Arab Children's Congress in Amman, Jordan, where she was a guest of honor.

Jolie's 'Tourist' Set for 2011 with 'Lives of Others' Director - cinematical

Angelina Jolie's pet project The Tourist might finally have a director, according to Variety. Internationally acclaimed director and writer Florian Henckel von Donnersmarck "hasn't formally entered into negotiations," but it's looking likely that the man behind the critically hailed film The Lives of Others will be hopping behind the camera for this 2011 release.

Jolie reportedly turned down the sequel of Wanted in favor of The Tourist (although the rumors of her return of the sexy tattooed assassin remain at large) but she was holding out on officially signing on to The Tourist until Spyglass found a director she approved of.

Strangely enough, Tom Cruise was originally set to costar but dropped out in favor of Knight & Day with Cameron Diaz. Jolie's latest film, Salt, was originally set to star Tom Cruise, but then he backed out, the writers did a quick fix-me-up on the script, and voila -- here's Evelyn Salt!

In any case, this remake of Anthony Zimmer is about an Interpol agent hot on the trail of a former paramour and criminal; the spy makes use of an American tourist to help find her. Sam Worthington (Avatar) costars as the tourist, and according to /Film, Jolie plays the ex. On the other hand, Variety is reporting that she plays the Interpol agent. Hollywood Reporter is taking the safer route and not saying what Jolie's role will be. Yikes!

2011 sounds like one of those things where the movie keeps getting pushed back more and more until the stars and director are all like, "Whatever, I have no idea what's happening with that any more." But remember when Angelina Jolie provided us guilty pleasure movies like The Bone Collector? I would be happy to see her as the spy or the criminal; what do you think?

Jolie/Worthington Project The Tourist to be Helmed by Director of ... - Slashfilm.com

This is a pretty great development, at least for the cast and crew of The Tourist. The film has gone through a lot of personnel tweaks, as we've reported over the last few weeks. The cast finally settled down, with Angelina Jolie and Sam Worthington set as the two leads. With those in place, it seems like the director's chair formerly held by Bharat Nalluri will be filled by a great talent: Florian Henckel von Donnersmarck, who won the 2007 Best Foreign Language Film Oscar for his film The Lives of Others.

Variety reports that the deal isn't done, but that Jolie's agreement to do the film would be based on finding the right director. As of Friday night that was said to be von Donnersmarck, so now the last round of chicken begins. Jolie will do the film if the director says yes, and I'd guess that he's interested in making an Angelina Jolie movie that will do tremendously well worldwide. So long as neither of them blinks, everthing will probably work out. Granted, that's where my reservations come in. I'd rather see von Donnersmarck do something a little more interesting than a big studio action-thriller. But he hasn't made a film since The Lives of Others, and this is probably better than many other possible projects. And he might make this into something really worth watching. If things go well, we'll see it in 2011.

As we've reported before, The Tourist is a remake of a 2005 French film called Anthony Zimmer. Some plot details have been changed; the film follows "an American tourist who, on behalf of Interpol, goes undercover to entrap a former lover who's a suspected global criminal." Jolie is the former lover, Worthington is the tourist.

The best part about all this? This movie could end up being a lot of fun while Tom Cruise, once attached to play Sam Worthington's role, chose instead to make a movie called Knight and Day.

Angelina Jolie’s Tattoo Sets A Trend In Asia - Fashion

Posted: 19 Oct 2009 01:56 AM PDT

Angelina Jolie's tattoos are popular in Asia countries. It became so popular that a specific 'Angelina Jolie' catalog and guide for tattoo artists has been created.

An owner of a tattoo parlor in Hong Kong revealed that the most popular tattoo are the 'sayings' that she wears, which most of the clients can't actually read them but they wanted to have them.
Meanwhile, Angelina was recently snapped outside of the Sony Studios building in Culver City after signing the contract in the upcoming film "The Tourist". She flew back to Los Angeles from France just to sign the deal and then she immediately jetted off to an unknown location from Van Nuys airport.
